What was Craigslist.org originally created for?
I didn't hear about craigslist until about a year ago. I go on there when I have random items to sell, and want to get a little bit of cahs fast. The other reason is to find baby items for a very cheap price. What year was Craigslist created, and what was the reason for creating it? Any resources or information is appreciated!

From Craigslist itself, this was started as a hobby by Craig Newmark in 1995, to let his friends know about events happening in the San Francisco Bay Area. To this day, he still works in customer service, among his other more public duties.
Craigslist Foundation was started in 2000 by Craig Newmark and others as a publicly supported, non-endowed 501(c)3 operating foundation. On its own site, it states this mission: "Craigslist Foundation works to connect people and organizations to the resources they need to strengthen communities and neighborhoods." http://craigslistfoundation.org/about.html
